Principles

Focus Guru is built on the following principles:

  • Simplicity
  • Structure
  • Motion
  • Consistency
  • People-centricity

This set of principles drives the philosophy of the product and guides the life beyond the software.

Focus Items

Focus Item is the core entity in Focus Guru.

It could be a goal, a project, an idea, an event, a set of habits, etc.
Focus Items are the pieces you dedicate your attention to.

Focus Guru creates an environment that helps you focus on your goals, clearly separating them from one-off items such as tasks.

Examples of Focus Items:
  • Start a business — a goal
  • Learn to play the guitar — a stretch goal
  • Wellness routine — a set of habits
  • Work — a regular activity

Reactions, metrics, and habits

You can add reactions, metrics, and habits to your Focus Items.

  • Reactions represent your emotional state, so you can better understand your feelings in relation to your Focus Items
  • Metrics help you to measure your progress and improve your productivity
  • Habits help you to form consistent behaviors to support your goals

Reflection

Reflection is the process of thinking and analyzing your Focus Items. It helps you to understand your emotions, improve your productivity, and form habits.

When you outline what's on your mind — you get a better perspective of the progress and what can be improved along the way.

Insights

Insights give you a visual representation of your progress towards your goals; reactions, metrics, and habits. They help you to celebrate your achievements, stay motivated, or course correct.
